Vancouver has welcomed winter with a heavy snowfall ⛄️ And what would be a better way to celebrate the winter solstice, if not a swim in the freezing ocean ❄️ The low air temperature of -7°C made it very challenging, as I have never swam while this cold outside. It was a real challenge to get dressed and to warm up afterwards. Once again I welcomed the New Year while attending the Polar Bear Swim at English Bay in Vancouver. It was great to see such a large number of attendees ready to take the chilly dip. This year marked my 5th time at the event and I got wonderfully surprised by the unexpected appearance in three local newscasts! City News included part of my interview in their evening broadcast, while CTV and CBC captured my interactions with the crowd. As always, there were so many hugs to exchange and cheer to share with other cold water enthusiasts. I swam four times that day and when it came to collect my commemorative button, there were none left! Thankfully, the event had a happy ending when one of the life guards shared with me his own button! My trip to Europe would not have been complete without visiting the WIM HOF training center in Poland, where all the winter expeditions are held. Finding his house in Przesieka made a truly unexpected birthday surprise! It felt wonderful to take a refreshing dip in the famous Podgórna Waterfall. The crazily strong wind near the top of Mt. Śnieżka is something I will never forget. I welcomed yet another year with the cold ocean swim at English Bay, participating in the annual event of Polar Bear Swim in Vancouver. 30 Foot Pool at Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver is well-known for its freezing cold water, all year round. It is where I experienced my first ever cold water exposure in nature, barely lasting 10 seconds. Now, after practicing the Wim Hof Method for 3.5 years, I am truly impressed with the progress my body has made in withstanding the cold. Lindeman Lake is a small lake in Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park, 2 hours drive from Vancouver. While my friends and I were visiting the park, I took the opportunity to step into the shockingly cold lake.
